The Saw franchise, one of the most successful horror series in history, may have hit an unexpected roadblock. Reports suggest that Saw XI, which was initially announced after the success of Saw X, has been scrapped due to internal conflicts. This news has left fans wondering whether this is truly the end of the Jigsaw saga or just another temporary delay.
What Actually Happened?
After Saw X was released in 2023 and grossed over $112 million worldwide, it seemed like the franchise had regained its momentum. The film, which explored John Kramer’s (Tobin Bell) past, was praised for its storytelling and character depth, reigniting interest in the series. Lionsgate wasted no time in announcing Saw XI, with an original release date of September 27, 2024. However, as time passed, production delays pushed the date to 2025.
Despite the high anticipation, recent reports indicate that Saw XI has now been shelved entirely. According to Decider, internal disputes among producers were a major factor in the project’s downfall. Disagreements reportedly escalated to a point where production could not move forward, and Lionsgate did not intervene to mediate the situation.
While Saw XI may no longer be happening under its original plan, it doesn’t necessarily mean the end of the franchise. If another studio or production team steps in, the project could be revived in some form. However, given the internal struggles, it may take time before any definitive news emerges.
