Elizabeth Olsen Won’t Return as Scarlet Witch

Elizabeth Olsen has confirmed that she will not be reprising her role as Wanda Maximoff, also known as the Scarlet Witch, in the upcoming Avengers films. With Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars expected to be some of the biggest films in the MCU, fans had hoped to see the return of Wanda after her fate in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, Olsen has made it clear that she is not involved in either project.

The last time audiences saw Wanda, she was seemingly sacrificing herself to destroy the Darkhold, a book of dangerous magic that had corrupted her. However, her death was never explicitly shown, leaving room for speculation that she could still be alive somewhere in the multiverse. Since the MCU often finds ways to bring back characters, some fans believe it’s only a matter of time before she reappears.

Despite this, Olsen’s recent comments suggest that Marvel has no immediate plans for Wanda. She stated that she would be happy to return if the story was right but emphasized that she is not currently involved in any upcoming Avengers projects.

Both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars are expected to be game-changers for the MCU. Doomsday will focus on DR DOOM, while Secret Wars is set to be a multiverse-spanning epic that could bring back characters from past Marvel films. The fact that Olsen won’t be appearing in these movies raises questions about how Marvel plans to move forward with Scarlet Witch’s storyline.

For now, Olsen is focused on new projects outside of Marvel, and fans will have to wait and see if she ever steps back into the role.

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for release on May 1, 2026, while Avengers: Secret Wars will hit theaters on May 7, 2027.
